Genuinely over the moon about this, the product of multi-year collaboration with Emile Chabal (also: emile-chabal.bsky.social), Mike Slaven, Sara Casella, Elisabeth Badenhoop Seeing Immigrants Economic and Social Research Council ❤️🙏

In this case, it gives me no joy to emphasise topicality, but our book has loads of insights into the long histories that led to today's Supreme Court ruling on #Rwanda, especially in the chapters by Mike Slaven.
a rare public quantification from the UK government here of how many immigrants within a particular category they have lost track of Seeing Immigrants

My article in Ethnic and Racial Studies about how the Windrush Scandal emerged from long-run changes in the basic ideas guiding UK immigration control now has more than 15,000 views. Thanks for (keeping on) reading! Seeing Immigrants tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
Today is #WindrushDay 22nd June marks the anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush in 1948. Here is a link to an article by Mike Slaven about how the individualisation of UK #Immigration control is key to understanding the Windrush Scandal... doi.org/10.1080/014198…
Worrying to see the immigration minister Seema Malhotra MP take such a complacent view of the full transition to eVisas. As I wrote this summer in this report for UK in a Changing Europe, rethinking this is one big thing the govt could do to learn from the Windrush Scandal media.ukandeu.ac.uk/wp-content/upl…
E-visas are going to create big problems. Wrote about this in this summer's @politicalquarterly.bsky.social special collection on UK immigration policy edited by James Hampshire. If the Labour government wants to show anything has been learned from Windrush it needs to reassess now theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/o…
