Vets on holiday visit other vets just like farmers like to visit farms. Central Amsterdam is the complete opposite to rural Winton NZ. Only similarity is they mostly speak English and a little Dutch. Nothing for a client to drop 15k euros on a 🐈‍⬛.

Full swing into the beet lifting season. Cows are well through calving and need some food. 🐄🚜💨 #agrifac #bigsix #cross #fendt

What was going to be a rainy day tinkering in the workshop turned into a day of emergency pumping for clients. A day of gail force winds, big power outages followed by a day of heavy rain caused issues on effluent systems. Sorted thankfully. Lots of surface water over roads.

First run for the new delivery today, until the rain disrupted play. Trying to get some oats in the ground for clients. #allen #fendt #ljc

Beet planting into full swing of it now after a slow start. Great conditions for planting, magnificent views out the window today. #fendt #kuhn #kingstonflyer

First time in 17 years that I’ve been involved in planting maize. First time in Southland. Then onto a beet trial plot for Agricom NZ Variety in the day for sure.

Awesome day spent with visiting family out in the Catlins today. Highlight of the day for the kids was the dolphins coming in for a surf while they were swimming at Curio Bay.

Last bit of crop checking for the 2023 year. Pleasantly surprised by the maize crop after seeing other paddocks on my travels over the Xmas period. Not quite fence high, but not far off. Lot better colour in it from the last time I saw it.

We’ve had a wee spell of fine weather to get some hay baled. Did my annual ticket today on the grass crew. Didn’t get yelled at, so I think I did an ok job. Heavy rain at the end of the day further south from us. #McHale #Fusion #haymaking #Claas

One of NZ’s most underrated lakes! Last minute decision to hit the lake one more time for the season. Beach to ourselves and a glass lake. Southland turned it on for its anniversary. Unfortunately not had too many days like this over summer.

Awesome autumn day out riding. Nice change to be riding through a few clients farms. Great tracks though early teen boys bit off a bit more than they could chew in the advanced sections. Can’t beat experience and strength in the slippery technical stuff. Old man is still handy

A year ago we were starting our family European holiday. 25th April last year we were baking Anzac cookies in Oma’s kitchen in NL. Several farming friends in France hosted us and we were able to visit the Normandy beach landing sites. Others had WW1 and 2 history nearby.
