"Hopefully the regional head retreat will not be interpreted as an attempt to centralize the power of the central [Indonesian] government amid the discourse on implementing regional elections through the DPRD," said Sultan. Funny you should say that …😏 en.tempo.co/read/1963698/p…

While Indonesia has entered new phase of defense development capability, it still has remaining homework related to the 2020-2024 contracts. Dozens of contracts haven't entered into force yet due to some issues. Without solve the issues, local defense firms won't get advantage.

Deeds not words! If you want to see where Indonesia's defense procurement on government's spending is, you should look deeds not words. It's facts that no RMP in FY2025, FY2025 defense budget trimmed. About 60 contracts are in limbo, maybe more than half of them will be default.

The lese majeste charge filed against prominent US academic Paul Chambers in Thailand is a shocking development, even after this notorious law’s extensive use against hundreds of young dissidents. Paul’s work on the Thai military is invaluable. He now faces many years in jail.

A Thai court today denied bail to US academic Paul Chambers - He’s been charged with lese majeste. So Thailand is jailing one of the most respected academics working here. His offence? The blurb for a webinar on military reshuffles posted last year by ISEAS in Singapore.

Jonathan Head (@pakhead) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Paul has denied either writing or posting the blurb. It’s unlikely the Thai prosecutors have any evidence that he did. Neither is it clear what’s offensive in the blurb. It is extraordinary the Thai authorities are using the notorious 112 law in this way. It’s a terrible look.

"Indonesia reconsiders" is a claim made out of thin air. Rafale procurement remains on track, there has been no public statement from any top Indonesian military or government officials suggesting otherwise
