Great idea by Gravity at #SiO2018 - when someone takes out a loan, sign an agreement that the loan installment will convert to monthly investment once the loan is repaid, before you get used to living on the amount #getSAinvesting

Big thank you to @SilicaLive for the opportunity to share Gravity’s way of thinking at #SiO2018! Great to get the #FinancialServices industry thinking more about #behaviouralscience and the value it can have.

The stats of how much money is stuck in unnecessary and expensive credit shared by maya fisher-french is scary but really exciting. If we can work out ways to flip that credit spending behaviour into savings behaviour we could really have something awesome on our hands! #SiO2018

The use of chat bots (particularly through whatsapp) to lower the barrier to opening new savings and investments accounts is awesome. It also forces the company to think like the user! The Nedgroup Investments chat bot is great example that is live in SA. Paul Cartmel #SiO2018

“AI can make you look awesome” Mike Needham from Amazon Web Services Thinking of AI as a tool to help you do do a better job rather than have that job taken is a far more positive framing. It can also give you more time and resources to focus on things that really matter. #SiO2018

I was interviewed by McKinsey for their article on nudge units. While wonderful PR for the field, I am generally hoping behavioral science can start to brand away from 'nudging', which sounds a bit too manipulative and a bit too narrow. mckinsey.com/business-funct…

Just listened ep. on robocalls and I was thinking, is there a service I can use that will tell me what information an app/website is collecting or give a simple breakdown of their privacy policy? #happytopay for #dataprivacy Reply All

Metrics aren’t insights. You need to try and understand the why behind the metric. Those whys are the insights that inform your decision making. Getting form the metric to the insights, now that’s where the magic happens. #behavioralscience Tim Harford

Couldn’t agree more with Bruce Whitfield “negative people never build anything” it’s easy to slip into Eeyore mode, it’s much harder to be a critical optimist. You have to look for the opportunities while rolling up your sleeves and staring the scary problems down. #SiO2019
