Factors like training background, age, genetics, injury history, and current fitness level influence marathon completion time.Β  Mick went from someone who hated running and couldn't run more than 3km continuously, to running a marathon within 9 months πŸ’ͺΒ  #marathon #running

I recently hosted Matt Daniels on the First42K podcast πŸŽ™οΈΒ  Matt Daniels ran 55 marathons in 55 days and 535 half marathons in 535 days to honour Andrew Cadigan (Cad) who passed away tragically after walking around Australia in honour of his own friend Chris Simpson.

Swimming is anxiety-inducing for me. My heart and mind are racing! Despite swallowing water πŸ˜‚ yesterday was my 3rd lesson this month & I feel less anxious each time. Beating that inner voice is empowering πŸ’ͺ🏽 Future goal = Ironman & Ultraman πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ #outworkselfdoubts #swimming

The 80/20 rule with running: 80 % of your running should be done at an easy aerobic intensity (zone 2 heart rate) 20% should be when you fly πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ”₯ So if you’re running 5 x per week: - 4 runs at a slower pace - 1 run - send it πŸ’₯ & watch it come together for you πŸ’ͺ

Join a running group or find a friend to run with to keep you accountable. Particularly for easy (recovery) runs - Having a conversation with a friend whilst running will help you control your pace.Β  If you can't talk, you're running too fast.Β  #Accountability #First42K

🚴 Cross-training can enhance running performance. Mix up your running with cycling, swimming, or other activities you love.  Remember if you're not enjoying your training, you won't be consistent. Variety keeps training fun!  #CrossTraining #VarietyIsKey #First42K

I was in the gym 14 days ago like any other Monday morning. I was doing an explosive single leg glute bridge as part of my plyometrics. Some how that caused a full collapse of my right lung. 13 nights in hospital and VATS surgery later, I'm finally discharged. Wtf πŸ˜‚
