The overshoot myth: you can’t keep burning fossil fuels and expect scientists of the future to get us back to 1.5°C, via The Conversation: theconversation.com/the-overshoot-…
Semester start with a visit of the PhD course: "CO2 Insitu measurements to carbon balance map, a tool to support national C accounting" Incl. lectures by Alex Vermeulen & Thomas + station tour Run by Physical Geography @lunduniversiy support: ICOS Sweden ICOS Carbon Portal #ClimBEco Centre for Environmental and Climate Science, LU
1/7 The GlobalCarbonProject has published its four Global Methane Budget as an ERL paper and pre-print in ESSD; links at the end of thread. Humans are now responsible for two-thirds or more of all global CH4 emissions It covers the period 2000-2020, with some extensions up to 2023
Listening to Samuli Launiainen's talk: C balance of Northern European forests & disturbances at #icos2024SC. His study includes measurements from LU - Biosphere-Atmosphere Interaction Research and ICOS Sweden stations like Hyltemossa Research Station, Lund University & ICOS Norunda. Samuli Launiainen works with us in our Skogssällskapet funded project.
Last day of #ICOS2024SC is kicking off strong with Andrés Tangarife-Escobar from @Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry giving a great overview of carbon cycling in a forest ecosystem. (Data collected at Svartberget ICOS station ICOS Sweden 😍) Most new C incorporated in biomass (🌲🍂🍄), not mineral soil.
Registration for the 8th ICOS Summer School - part of the #NUBICOS project - is now open! Learn about the carbon cycle, ICOS measurement techniques and more in the beautiful Hyytiälä Forest Station surroundings. Read more & apply by 1st December: icos-cp.eu/news-and-event…
