Pirkanmaa Climate Action Lab´s workshop about climate related terminology was held on Tuesday in snowy Hyytiälä. A part of the program was a visit to our SMEAR II station. Thank you all the participants and speakers!

The final day of Atmosphere and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) Impact Week was full of interested talks and presentations. Many good things have already been done. Many more still needs to be done.

The winter swimming season is almost over and today we took the ice swimming box out from the lake. Quite soon we can swim in ice-free lake Kuivajärvi!

Osallistumme Luomus #100lajia_haaste eseen! Tavoitteena on havainnoida kasveja, hyönteisiä, sieniä ja myös lintuja aseman ympäristössä. Katsotaan paljonko lajeja eri kategorioihin saadaan! Jatkossa tavoitteena on muutenkin tehostaa lajiston seurantaa aseman ympäristössä.

Yet another INAR winter school successfully completed mostly in sunny winter weather!
During the course students from around the world analysed the differences in atmospheric and ecosystem variables in Hyytiälä, Po Valley, Alaska and Beijing.

Annual SMEAR technical meeting will conclude today. Plenty of topics have been discussed during these two days.

Hyytiälä wishes Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for everyone!

Our recreational day head this year to Tampere. We visited Police Museum, had some delicious food and played glow in the dark minigolf. What a fun day it was!

We have now our own Christmas tree standing in the center square of the new building! Hopefully the snow cover will remain over Christmas!

Here is our new station director, Juho Aalto! He will start on his new job in January. Hyytiälä is quite familiar place for Juho since he has been working here for over 10 years. Congrats Juho and good luck for the new job!

Bye bye old buildings! The old B-house is now gone and the C-house is soon history, too.

The old A-building is gone soon. At the moment there are three excavators working.
