Those engaged in destruction of their own communities are exploiting a tragedy to stir up hate and fan the flames of prejudice. This is a time for leadership and we must work together to find a way forward.

As Deputy Mayor of Belfast, I spoke at today’s rally at City Hall to call out the rising tide of racism and hatred spreading across the North. The Executive’s inaction and lack of moral leadership has allowed this hate to escalate. It’s time for them to act - to confront racism

Today in the Assembly, the SDLP has an Opposition Day motion to stop new mining licences. Seven licences have already been approved, with almost no public scrutiny. Communities have been ignored and the rules aren’t fit for purpose.
