Childcare is an economic issue, an equality issue and about the wellbeing of children. It’s time for immediate action, with longer term reform to follow.

I have the pleasure of doing a lot of work with Alexa and I know she is a dedicated and dazzlingly bright contributor to civil society here. I've had harassment for my work but nothing on the scale she does. It had to stop. Nobody is served by it. These people are dangerous.

Great work the 110th Explorers who hosted their annual charity coffee and cake fundraiser in Wynchurch this morning. They are fundraising for the Hospice including by running the marathon in 2 weeks time so allowed to build up strength with all those bakes. A brilliant bunch 😊

Our childcare bill is approximately £950 per month for 2 days a week, and we count ourselves lucky. We can cover the other days but it has meant reducing hours in work and relying heavily on family help. That’s not possible for many. Change is needed now!

I was filming and taking part in the MeltedParentsNI march yesterday. Our childcare bill is almost £700 pm for 3 days a week. With our mortgage having recently gone up by 40% and no signs of costs coming down elsewhere, the maths for families in NI is alarming and unsustainable.

As an organiser with Community Together Belfast working to push back against racism & xenophobia in my community I have to call out this false & dangerous rhetoric from Tim Collins. Scapegoating asylum seekers for under-funded public services should have no place in any election campaign.

There is growing momentum on the challenge to Members of the ‘Legislative’ Assembly (the clue is in the name) to devote less time on rhetorical motions, and more time on the hard work of legislation with concrete proposals and consequences.

A privilege to join some of Lough View IPS 30th anniversary celebrations at City Hall this evening. Pretty blown away by talented singers and speakers - a brilliant school community built family by family over those years.

I've been supporting Trademarket since it was on the drawing board, and it has proven to be a phenomenal success, bringing a real buzz to this location. It's essential that it finds a way to continue, and we'll be doing what we can to help.

Trademarket is a success story. Great food, good beer (I even bought long-suffering team one tbis afternoon) and an incubator for new biz.

Belfast City Council has agreed to my proposal to write to the Department of Infrastructure to relocate Trademarket to Bankmore Square as a temporary measure. Which will give them time to find a permanent home.
