Steam retail discs haven't worked for around a year. It often isn't an issue, as the cdkey sometimes works, and other hacks exist to get some games extracted. For those that are less common, say prototypes wrapped up on discs that require Steam to install, it doesn't work.

One year ago, Flyheight Cloudia became the first preserved commercial i-mode game. Today, we've preserved well over 500 i-mode games, spanning series like Rockman to Professor Layton. And there's still more work to be done on titles like Before Crisis! We really have come so far.
