First wash up of 21/22 Season for our Coop. quality, like yield, a notch down on last season. Given the cold, wet May, then the hot dry summer we had, it’s hardly a surprise.

Great article, however there are some far superior varieties out there to trump those mentioned! Have we been getting potatoes all wrong? - BBC Food bbc.co.uk/food/articles/…

Food miles are the distance your food has travelled to get to your plate🍽️Food miles matter as this travel adds a great deal to the greenhouse gas emissions🌍 So, next time you read your food labels if your produce has travelled a long distance consider its carbon footprint. 👣

Second wash up of the season. Strangely, and somewhat reassuringly, the spuds looked better this time! Just 1 member at a time because of COVID but it leads to more in depth and constructive discussions.

And so it begins. Slightly damp up here to start but now more or less perfect. Tattie planting 2022 east bridge of dun youtu.be/7JiWEjPXu48 via YouTube

A wee tour round our early crops in East Lothian with the legendary Haig Hamilton - of course he couped me once again which is an annual ritual. Overall comments - irrigated stuff (7 x 30mm) looks good, unirrigated = worrying. M Piper and Caledonian Rose, which looks a variety.

We pumped water 2 miles, under a main road and a railway to this field and there’s nothing over 65mm yet. It’s getting a tad worrying.
