What do people do when they do not "do" anything, when they just live? That's when their life becomes important, when their fate is determined.

We determine the lives of those around us—for good or for evil—by our own words and deeds, by our whole life. As faith arises in one person from another's faith, so also unbelief grows from another's hypocrisy and lies, from the surrounding triumph of evil and sin.

When man stands before the throne of God, when he has fulfilled all that God has given him to fulfill, when all sins are forgiven, all joy restored, then there is nothing else for him to do but to give thanks. Eucharist (thanksgiving) is the perfect state of man.

Anything that convinces, or converts others, grows in solitude, in creative quiet, never in chatter.

Man has lost the ability to admire, to wonder, and everything has become for him a problem. One must leave, come out of these problems; this means purifying one's sight, purifying the heart from all unhealthy excitement.

We are in a vicious circle-an unavoidable vicious circle, when an organic, primordial eternal experience is broken. Our contemporary culture consists in denying and breaking up that experience; its very essence is its denial. It is an experience of negativity, rebellion, protest.

If anything lies at the foundation of our government, society, and yes, our personal lives, then it is the Pharisee’s continuous self-promotion, self-affirmation, or to use a more venerable and eternal word, pride.

Man was created priest of the world, the one who offers the world to God in a sacrifice of love and praise...Priesthood, in this sense, is the very essence of manhood, man’s creative relation to the “womanhood” of the created world.

Look at the image of the Virgin Mary in the icons, at this striking spiritual beauty, at the image of the Mother and Child, where all that is human, while remaining human, is elevated to such a height, shines with such a light, and radiates such all-conquering love!
