Today, Class 2 began exploring the book “Flotsam” by David Weisner. We practised our prediction skills by exploring some flotsam and deciding who we think these items belonged to. We then provided evidence for our predictions. Thanks Ceridwen Eccles for the inspiration.

Congratulations to Halle; our winner in the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust school competition. Children were asked to present information about seals, and how people should behave around them, in a creative and informative way. We think you did a great job, Halle.

Before the holidays, Class Two wrote letters to The Prime Minister raising their concerns about ocean pollution. Today, we received a reply to say these letters have been passed to Defra UK. We hope they take the time to respond after all the hard work by the children.

This afternoon, Class Two explored water in its 3 different states; ice, water and water vapour 🧊 💦 ♨️ We learned about, and observed, the processes of evaporation and condensation. We discussed ‘what do you notice?’ and used scientific vocabulary to explain our observations.

Yesterday, Class Two explored how sound is made. 🔊 They recorded observations about what happens to rice when it is placed on a hit drum, explored how a tuning fork produces sound, visualising this by placing it in water, and also conducted a sound survey around school.

Whilst the girls were busy playing football, the boys explored the concepts of equality, diversity and inclusion in football. They shared brilliant ideas for how football can be inclusive for everyone and we were adamant that football is for everyone!
