The midlife crisis is a crisis of certainty, while the quarterlife crisis is a crisis of possibility.

We call someone ‘childish’ when they behave with the negative qualities of children (e.g. immature, petty etc). We call them ‘child-like’ when they have their positive qualities (e.g. playful, carefree etc). Are there equivalent terms for adults?? And if not, why not?

Great to visit Eagle House again for another day of philosophy. We discussed the relationship between ‘thoughts’ and ‘emotions’, if Mars has a right to be left alone, and whether children are more free than adults. Plenty of food for thought! PhilosophyFoundation

While each advert promotes a good or service, it also promotes the desire for those things. Adverts aren’t just adverts for things; they are adverts for desire itself. They contain the implicit message; it is good for you to want this, and to pursue it. Adverts glorify desire.

Five questions to check if you are on the right track: Is my work in alignment with my values? (Integrity)  Am I making use of what I’m good at? (Fulfilment)  Is my work impacting others? (Influence)  Am I learning and developing? (Growth)  Am I proud of my work? (Satisfaction)

Some people start with the non-negotiable requirement to have a job makes good money and then try finding fulfillment within that. Other people start with the non-negotiable requirement to have work that is fulfilling and then try to make money out of it.

Dismissive platitudes: ‘All lives matter’ ‘Not all men’ ‘Antisemitism is wrong as are all forms of racism’ When you minimise a specific issue by making a blandly true, general statement.
