#EquityInsightsToAction Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld Greenville County Schools I appreciate how the authors use the events of the pandemic to keep the momentum of needed change going. It’s easy to step back into status quo but far more important to use this opportunity to impact our MLs.

#EquityInsightsToAction 1Q1) My “why” for equity work comes from my own experiences as a teacher and how I struggled with limited knowledge and resources to help my ML students. As an academic specialist I have a platform to help teachers be in a better position than I was.

"Students' language patterns & registers may not reflect those of teacher, yet should be viewed as asset-based constructs" So true and easy to forget! #equityinsightstoaction Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld Greenville County Schools

2Q1) The most beautiful gardens have variety in appearance and timing. The same is true for students in a classroom/school/district. This variety in students should be cultivated & appreciated in the same manner as a garden. #equityinsightstoaction Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld Greenville County Schools

3Q4) Instruction can be enhanced for all students through the 5 overarching practices by providing the time and collaboration for teachers to investigate and develop lessons with these in mind.

Ch 4 I really appreciated the parts regarding not watering down new learning. I think that's a trap we easily fall into and don't give students enough credit to learn at the same depth and complexity as non MLs. #equityinsightstoaction

As a former science teacher I love the analogy of an ecosystem to the classroom and implications for MLs. "...if one part is unhealthy or inequitable, the overall well-being of the system can be compromised." #equityinsightstoaction
