It’s February and it’s MAT 23-24 budget setting season. A few headlines on major grants as we wait for GAG statements to land. SSG is now rolled into NFF and no longer a separate allocation. MSAG an additional grant for 23-24. Recovery Premium continues in 23-24. PPG increased.

On the ESFA remittances received today there are two Supplementary Grant lines. One is the original SSG and the other is the new MSAG allocation. #sblswitter

The Budget Forecast Return (BFR) goes live on 05.06.2023 with a deadline of 31.08.2023. This deadline is later than in previous years and is very welcome in terms of working around finance staff annual leave to give the return the attention it deserves #ESFA #ESFAAcademies

The earlier than expected announcement of Condition Improvement Fund bid outcomes. from Department for Education yesterday was most welcome. It now gives ample opportunity for quality planning, scheduling and crucially, completing on time.

3pm budget presentation to Trustees, budget approval and distribution internally of detailed supporting schedules (“the budget pack”) 5pm two maternity announcements, two adverts out and re-forecasting underway. For a couple of hours the detail reconciled to the headline.
