We’ve been a bit quiet on here, as staff await news on whether or not they’ve been made redundant - a timeline that has since been delayed. It’s heartening to see that the petition has hit 11800 signatures! We hope this shows National Trust for Scotland & Scottish Government how much we need our rangers! 💪🌱🌳

Another #mega #alpine #rarity and I've saved my favourite to last; snow pearlwort (Sagina nivalis). #BenLawersNNR holds the entire UK population except for 18 plants. It's threatened by #climatechange impacts so I usually do annual counts; hopefully again soon! #wildflowerhour

News: it looks like @Scotgov financial support, along with the work of Prospect Scotland, has helped save about 200 NTS jobs - just under half of those at risk. The full picture of the redundancies is still unfurling, but public support has clearly had an impact so thank you all.

Countryside rangers have a educational role as much as anything else... a friendly chat with visitors can go a long way to ensure a better understanding of what is and what is not acceptable in the countryside. They used to be funded... that should again be a priority.
