One of our key volunteers for years, Ed Doucette, died this past month, in BC. Douce, as he was called, played a leading role in the restoration of the Alberta Aviation Museum's B-25. He had joined the RCAF as a teenager and travelled the world. savehangar14.wordpress.com/edward-lawrenc…

Congratulations to David Grabski, Alberta Aviation Museum volunteer of the month. Dave worked as a machinist instructor for 25 years and loves to share his knowledge and apply his skills in the restoration department on our Bell P-29 Airacobra. Thanks Dave.

94 years ago this month, Wop May and Vic Horner made a near-impossible trip in bone chilling temperatures. They carried life-saving vaccine in an open cockpit airplane to a remote settlement in Northern Alberta. Humble beginnings - the cockpit section of our Bolingbroke was salvaged from a farm on Salt Spring Island. Seen here at a local car wash to give it a once over before restoration work commenced.

The numbers are in! In 2022 our volunteers racked up 14,293 hours in donated time at the museum. That equals more than $285,000 in donated time at $20/hour. And where can you find this kind of specialists for that kind of $. #yegcc Alberta Aviation Museum Edmonton Heritage Council Archive - Anne Stevenson

In a post that will be almost guaranteed to ruffle some feathers, 64 years ago today the Avro Arrow project was cancelled by the Diefenbaker government. The decision caught Avro by surprise, and immediately put thousands of Avro employees and their suppliers out of work.

Airplanes are better viewed from a higher vantage point. So we tested a mini drone in the hangar. It flew perfectly in the all-wood building and produced an amazing view. youtu.be/Q1zdSL5LyoE Alberta Aviation Museum The Hangar Museum BC Aviation Museum Edmonton City as Museum Project @CATPMuseum
