Hope Andrea Horwath uses her Strong Mayor's powers to veto the decision to waste $ at the OLT defending this proposal. Oh wait, Act doesn't allow her to veto a Decision; only allows vetoing a by-law. Hmm. Maybe she can simply propose a site specific ZBA for 1,000 needed homes

Curious - was everyone's water bill for June 2024 over 31 days? Mine was 35 days & I'm noticing a pattern that in summer months, readings are well over 31 days which forces most, if not all Hamiltonians, to pay Block 2 rates (2x higher) even though average consumption < 10m3/mo.

I think this is a good relocation plan. Can u confirm though Cameron Kroetsch plan deviates significantly from Council approved bylaw effective 2025 re 1. Gap payments much lower and 2. Returning tenants pay market rents (not current rent) in new units once completed?

How so? Does the change include a change to when reports are made public? If not, neither Council nor the public will have more time to read or be provided with more notice to delegate

Viv Saunders (@saundersward10) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I'm confused. Can you please clarify? Are you saying questioning character of Councillors in Chambers during a delegation is allowed?

Were there any variances here John-Paul Danko .... or are you stating you personally screwed up when you approved the ADU parameters? FWIW, looks acceptable to me

Mayor Mayor Cam Guthrie, are you able to please share what the final costs were for the social housing project at 11 Shelldale? Its not clear with the various sources of funding but I think it was @ $11.3M for 32 studio units and いまむら / year for operating wrap around supports. ??

Perplexed why Councillors would oppose demolition of 85 Catharine when it is clearly part of a bigger picture redevelopment of whole parking lot which will eventually provide more housing than the SFH

$634,000 / unit (studios and 1 bedroom with no private outdoor space) ! Whoa! How is the cost to build with public funds so much higher than the for-profit condo sales market?

Viv Saunders (@saundersward10) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I'm completely at a loss to understand these numbers & this article? 9% of our city's pop is about 54K ppl. All of W2 pop is @ 37K, so there's no way 9% of pop is located in that 300 acre area ?? Also, area reps .1% of city. 12% of crimes in .1% area IMHO needs attention.

This is extremely disappointing to read & conditions should be concerning. 40% of the units were larger 2 & 3 bedroom housing & over 60% of Ph1 were sold. Large blow to our downtown & those that purchased.
