At COP26 there has been two realities this week, one is the world of press releases by the UK Government announcing a host of initiatives which suggest all is well.  The other reality is outside this PR bubble. ⏰

On Finance, they talk of trillions being mobilised outside but inside they haven’t even managed to mobilise $100 billion in 12 years. They don’t even want a review of the delivery of the 100 billion under the UNFCCC or discussion on long term finance.

On loss and damage, outside the negotiations they talk about its importance. But inside they don’t want to talk about any financing for loss and damage as a separate pillar of the Paris Agreement.

This is why there is a need of climate action to scale up! India’s long term climate targets won’t help us breathe in the present #ClimateEmergency #DelhiPollution

#COP26: The new draft final decision text published today is not a plan to solve the climate crisis, it’s an agreement that we’ll all cross our fingers and hope for the best. It’s a polite request that countries maybe, possibly, do more next year. That’s not good enough. (1/2)

It's simply astounding that the rich nations of the world working together aren't willing to cough up even $100 billion - couch change for them - to help the Global South address the climate chaos they caused #COP26

Now that they have withdrawn the 3 farm laws, next step is to withdraw cases slapped on farmers, free those still in prison and pay reparations to all the protesting farmers who’ve had to endure the vileness of this government in full.

<How India passed laws in 2021> Speaker: All those in favor say AYE? MPs: "Meh... whatever." Speaker: "All those against say NO?" MPs: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Speaker: "I think the ayes have it the ayes have it this bill is passed and my listening skills are AMAZING!"

Budget 2022-23 features low carbon futures, clean energy, and cities as centres of sustainability. This shift in tone is welcome. Below the hood of the budget is a more mixed story - some gains some losses some questions Our blog from CPR Initiative on Climate, Energy and Environment environmentality.cprindia.org/blog/prelimina…
