Sarum Chronicle Dr Louise Ryland-Epton The Salisbury Museum An excellent talk, and the full article in Sarum Chronicle 2024 is well worth reading. As is the rest of SC24 - as well as 'Murder by Witchcraft', I particularly liked Ian Hicks' article on the Salisbury 'Conjoined Twins'.

Church of St Thomas, Salisbury A truly splendid church, obviously the Last Judgment painting ca. 1470 is the star, but the fantastic east window, perpendicular clerestory, ceiling angels and wine glass pulpit are worthy of attention But that painting though! 😍

Sent in November 1906 to a woman in Kent, this #postcard highlights the #winter #plantlife that could be seen at #Bournemouth ’s #wintergardens. The Crystal Palace, first built in the 1800s, can be seen behind. Perhaps this was sent by someone on a winter holiday? #20thcentury

The other day I posted a photo of St Giles Great Wishford, Wiltshire and its pinnacles which were attached during a rebuild in 1864. But what did it look like before? Found a print from 1804 that shows two pinnacles...wonder how long they'd been there.

The very best of the #SalisburyFiveRivers (3/5): The River Avon: #StAndrewDurnford. The largest collection of C12 details of all of the churches Mouse visited. Full of quirky features too which make it look like it was made from other church's left overs #AvonScamper2024

First copies of the book have arrived. Hardback and softback. 750 more to follow in a couple of weeks. Rather fine though I say so myself 😊 sarumchronicle.wordpress.com/churches/

Out to lunch, again, with my Sarum Chronicle co-authors of Churches of Salisbury & District, planning tomorrow evening’s launch in Salisbury to around 100 people. Early bird prices end soon and then the RRP in shops and online sales will be £20 softback, £25 hardback.
