Did you know that the first person buried in the Cathedral was William Longespée? He became Earl of Salisbury after marrying a noblewoman named Ela. William and Ela have a special connection with the Cathedral, laying two of the foundation stones in 1220.

As you explore the Cathedral grounds this Spring, discover our new walking trail. Starting from the Easter Garden outside the Cathedral, this trail will invite you to stop and reflect at various points in the Cathedral Close with a series of readings and prayers.
