I want to know why computer science programs have no tech ethics course requirements when the industry promises students that they have the power to change the world

Two computer science degrees, years of building sentiment analysis engines (and learning the shortcomings), data warehouses, architected systems, suffered through frontend ... and people still turn to the guy with a few years of app development to ask about his expertise on AI.

I’m a DS/MLE managing a team working in python, and I feel the part of my brain for concurrent and functional languages starting to die. To keep it alive, is Rust still the way to go? This would just be to stay current/for my own intellectual edification.

I know some folks will be helped, but I’m tired of people always thinking Black folks need “skills training”. There are apprenticeships and bootcamps and trainings and workshops and yadda yadda yadda. Black ppl will get tons of training and then still not be hired, funded, etc
