I really thought I would do so much reading and writing this week in Thailand and I’ve read maybe one chapter and written one paragraph

Finished! I hated this. I really wanted to love it since I thought I would find some common ground with the story, but I couldn’t move past how the main characters treat women, each other, every responsibility they’ve ever had, and Mexico.

Cr/Finished - A Happy Death by Albert Camus This was really good. It was very refreshing to read something written in the same period of life that I am in now, like talking to your favorite classmate in a philosophy course.

Yesterday in Thailand I met these two girls from Austria on a beach trip and we bonded over The Brothers Karamazov. Life is worth living!

Cr - Post-Traumatic by Chantal Jackson Stories like this are very personal to me and nourish my soul. Representation matters, being able to find yourself in a book matters. I’ve been reading too many men lately, cannot wait to read a book by a woman I see so much of myself in.

Dostoevsky died today (9 February) in 1881. So today is the day to quote Bulgakov from The Master and Margarita: 'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently. 'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!'

Finished! I can see why it’s famous. It definitely is unique and beautiful in its own way. I loved Meme, and the magical realism, but the constant incest was a little hard to read.

Someone needs to revoke my adulting license. It didn’t occur to me until today that I could turn the bread meat and cheese in my hotel room into a sandwich

I know dental surgery is a privilege but I wouldn’t wish the pain on my worst enemy. I feel like I was in a torture chamber today

Wow I am so behind on my reading updates. This week I read Carls Doomsday Scenario by Matt Dinniman and Pride Prejudice and Pittsburgh by Rachael Lippincott. I needed more chemistry in PPP. I started reading American Rapture and The Count of Monte Cristo :)

Finished - American Rapture by CJ Leede I loved this SO MUCH. I’ve been reading some pretty dry material lately and this was so juicy and delicious. I was scared. I’m a bit of a wuss so this isn’t saying a lot but I was on the edge of my seat.

Finished - Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence Every time reading starts to feel like a chore I grab a new fantasy book. I already love this authors Book of the Ancestor series, and while this is not as good, I am in love with how unheroic our hero is.

My first DNF of the year, Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma I was so excited for this, but 100 pages in I still dgaf about anything and the main character is really not for me. Which is really sad cause this had a lot of promise. Did you like it?
