Do you want to know a memory I hope I never forget? It’s when I first drank from the well of grace as a newly minted Christian. I hope I never forget the need for forgiveness, the need for mercy, how broken I was, and my ridiculous need for unconditional love.

On this All Hallows Eve I submitted my new book to Baker Books that now has its official title: "Christianity for People Who Aren't Christians: Uncommon Answers to Common Questions." Very excited about a book of this nature at such a time as this. Out next year. #Praying

You build your house on sand when you build your life on the sound of your own voice, your own words, your own sense of right and wrong, your own truth, your own morality, your own will - instead of on the rock of the words of Jesus.

#NightPrayer Dear Lord, watch with those who wake or watch or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep; tend your sick ones, rest your afflicted ones, shield your joyous ones, and all, for your love’s sake. Amen. #PBWY

If you're too busy to pray, tasked to pray, overwhelmed to pray, stressed to pray, distracted to pray, self-competent to pray, then you are too busy, tasked, overwhelmed, stressed, distracted and self-competent for God's presence and power. mecklenburg.org

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love.

My new book is written for your questioning, skeptical, hopefully exploring friends/family. Throughout I speak to them, not about them, and I bring C.S. Lewis along as a companion. Hopefully it will serve Christ followers as well as they eavesdrop on the conversation.

Rev. Laura Everett Physical proximity? Spiritual proximity? Both are preferable, yes? I think either or is a false choice. The physical may not be wise right now. Which makes the spiritual all the more important.

We live in what Cass Sunstein calls the “Daily Me,” a self-created world of personalized information protecting us from exposure to anything that might challenge or make us uncomfortable. Unchecked, we begin to follow the sound of nothing more than the echo of our own voice.

I wrote this book to, and for, those open to exploring the Christian faith. But they won't know about it unless someone who is a Christian suggests it. Read it, and if you feel it would serve a friend or family member, please let them know it's there for them.
