#bpsasm2025 Dr Cormac Ryan challenging traditional biomedical model of chronic pain. His PhD was in role of physical activity in managing pain. But society needs to be open to non-medical approaches - ie the biopsychosocial model. His public engagement helps understanding.

Feeling humbled to receive this honorary membership of The British Pain Society last week at its annual scientific meeting. I want to acknowledge the constant support and recognition I’ve had from the leadership, fellow members and especially the patient and carer group.

Agreed Helen M-B But who actually is asking for palliative care to be 'bypassed'? The two options - PC and AD - can coexist and ideally all patients who seek AD should have had access to PC first. But when some get PC, it may not suit their needs, or fails to deliver.
