Manchester Metropolitan Uni Samantha Nelson's forthcoming paper will explore the role of Tudor women in furnishing soldiers with arms and armour - perhaps like this mid-16th century pauldron and vambrace from a demilance armour (III.1710), once part of the Earl of Pembroke's arsenal.
The final speaker in this session is Samantha Nelson of HistoryManMet, discussing the military obligations of widows and noblewomen in Henrician England.
So pleased I got to hear Sandra Suárez García fantastic paper on Spanish women in C16th Spanish army camps. Very interesting and important research that I will be keen to follow throughout my PhD.
