Shooting Range: My relationship with my hometown is complicated, and I felt nurtured just as much as I felt isolated. I’ve been fighting for so long sometimes I don’t remember what the battle is for.

But what does fighting for the things you love look like? I’m questioning whether fighting itself is a form of love.

Hold a mirror to me and see I’ve been building walls my entire life. Not because I wanted to, but because I believed I had to. Every time something hurt me I figured I had just let my defense down too low so I would build it higher in the name of protection.

This project came from a reflection of my security and as it was coming together it occurred to me I hadn’t been keeping people out but myself in and the line between security and self defense became blurrier than ever.
