2022 has been the worst year for artists and I firmly believe in this. NFT, AI-art, bad algorithm, art websites promoting NFT and/or AI-art, animators being fired by the masses, ALOT of art-theft, underpaid and yet still demands for us to lower our prices. Can we catch a break?

Hey everyone! I know a lot of people have been posting their Lensa/other AI portraits lately. I would like to encourage you not to do so or, better yet, not to use the service. These AI seem like harmless fun but they are predatory and intend to replace artists. (1/9)

Generally: Artists don’t dislike AI art because it’s “not real art” etc. Artists dislike AI art because the programs are “trained” unethically using databases of art belonging to artists who have not given their consent. This is not about gatekeeping. This is about theft.

i don't think u guys are getting it. the main issue with AI is not "you could've commissioned an artist to do this," it's "the AI is trained to steal from actual artists' work and recreate it with zero credit or payment whatsoever so that a random app dev can make money"

i literally fucked up my entire dominant arm for life doing art (i'm only 25) and so many people would rather steal from us than pay for our hard work
