The solid curves represent the infection probability as a function of inhaled virus number scaled by median infectious dose at which Pinf = 50%. In the virus-rich regime with and without masks Pinf remains close to ~1 even if masks are used. Lets think of some other options!

Dr Karl On the contrary. Recent research comming from our laboratory QUT shows the opposite. When droplets that contain viruses are released into a dry atmosphere (RH<40%) the viruses survive better than when released into a humid atmosphere (RH>75%). pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Plaque assay is one of the most accurate methods for quantification of infectious virons. It would be challenging to plaque viable airborne viruses. Some useful tips:jove.com/video/52065. The plate is for the airborne influenza sample collected after 45min aerosol aging time.

#Airborne #aerosol size and concentration after 20 coughs🤧 from a #patient 😷 infected by #influenza A #virus🦠🦠. The size of influenza virus is around 80-120nm. How many viruses are embedded in these arosols? How many of them can survive in an airborne mode?🤷‍♀️ for how long?🤷

I am pleased to receive QUT Early Career Researcher Scheme award 2022. The project aims to investigate the effect of indoor air chemical components on airborne virus survival and transmission. I am grateful to Profs Zoran Ristovski and Kirsten Spann for their support and help.

My first academic paper characterized the bioaerosols emitted from a wastewater treatment plant. The photo shows sampling locations. This paper has a citation record of 125 so far. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Airborne particle concentration in 6 channel size emitted during coughs from a patient infected by RSV🦠. Do the concentration and size change with the type of virus?? Particles larger than 0.5um can potentially carry RSV and imagine if you inhale those particles🤧.

Viral transmission studies often use a synthetic substitute for human respiratory aerosol. Yet, comparing pig respiratory fluid to a common synthetic surrogate suggests that the physicochemical properties of the two fluids are not the same. In PNAS Nexus: ow.ly/JiuG50Oaz3F
