Woah.
Google is effectively trying to buy out the United States by tendering a cashier's check for the claimed max damages from screwing industry with adtech market power abuses. US DOJ's adtech antitrust trial seeking to break them up is months away. 1/4

😬 Well, a year of 'studying' AI to release what is basically a book report with tech industry fingerprints all over it is .. certainly one way to spend a year

A good example of how Big Tech can dominate public policy discourse. This panel at Google's office features reps from a trade org (CTA) and think tanks from both the right (AEI) and left (New America), all funded by Google. What does this mean for AI and competition policy?🤔

In a rare State Capitol moment, Rep. Michael Howard of Richfield calls out Sen. Ron Latz, a fellow Democrat, for stopping legislation that would bar landlords from discriminating against prospective tenants who use rental assistance vouchers.

NEW: Schumer's industry-friendly AI roadmap is getting panned by AI ethicists who helped work on it.

Alondra Nelson called it 'striking for its lack of vision.”

Suresh Venkatasubramanian (also on sky and mount) says he feels like he was part of 'a dancing monkey show, and we’re the monkeys.'

So…. Not a single poll had Alsobrooks winning by anywhere close to double digits, elections absolutely can break late, and campaigns matter.

Feels like there are some lessons to be learned here for idk future elections.

The last minute EMILY's List spending really cut into Trone's air superiority (caveat: obviously hard $ go further).

Trone had outspent Alsbrooks on the airwaves 13-1 before EMILY's List spent, but that margin was only 2-1 (EL+Alsobrooks) in the final days (per AdImpact Politics)

This is really something: POLITICO Playbook reports that Mike Johnson admitted defunding prosecutions of Trump isn't going to happen. Then when Trumpworld was asked for comment, four minutes later Johnson's team called back to try to clean things up:

Bill Clinton ran into Loretta Lynch while DOJ was looking into Hillary's email habits & there was a week-long media meltdown & a Lynch mea culpa. The Speaker is openly acknowledging he's looking for ways to jam up Jack Smith at Trump's behest and (shocker) it's a shoulder shrug🙃

Given NetChoice & other tech front groups like Chamber of Progress like to brag about their legal “war room” against kids online safety, they can’t be too happy with this headline 💁🏻‍♀️
