On this day in 1985 the first discovery of a fullerene was published in the journal Nature. The new form of carbon was discovered by Robert Curl, Richard Smalley and Sir Harold Kroto. They were awarded a Nobel prize in 1996 for this work. #fullerene #nanotechnology
