men never express it, but i notice how my dad misses his wife at iftar and suhoor. after taraweeh, he calls her, forgetting she isn’t there… there’s no answer, so he goes to his room and sleeps. may allah heal him…

when i read that the beloved prophet muhammad ﷺ grieved for those he loved, it makes me even sadder, because even he, the most patient, the most beloved of allah, felt the sharp ache of loss.
