It is with great delight she sat in the cool and took brandy milk for her woes. A dream could not summon such a thing; nutmeg, always a little too much, brandy the same and knowingly so. The nausea spin of the day soon turned away to bright meadows of lost thought on each sip.

White flesh catches the blue of a summer night. Kitchen steel plays and fruits are given to deities still remembered. "We give our fruit as our flesh" 1876 #amwriting

A time of harvest, a wish for rain to stay its hand before the rye is taken in; before the wheat and corn is housed. Then come drizzle and swell the orchard apples; but not too much to split the plums! #summer #amwriting #witchcraft of Rumbucket Lane. CreativeWriting CCCU

"My father's account of this strange plant that grows in the damp places of his homeland; a plant of a curious carnivorous nature, was to me, a terrible thing. He omitted it was 'not' capable of eating small girls; I suspect, to encourage me to stay in bed." E Redgrass 1876

Everything smells of bicarbonate of soda and viniger. The joys of the pre-spring deep clean. And the fireplace needs a proper scrub. Yes, the maid has to do what she does, however, surely she might wait until we are at the town house for the remainder of winter? #Victorians

'It is always a treat, at dinner, when father stacks up his things and tells tales about the Americas. Guests revel in stories of war and escape, great hunts and adventure. My sister, Elizabeth, with regret, took up some of these arms to piracy. She was hanged at Maidstone.'
