Walked into my hotel room in Odesa and found these by the bedside among the "amenities." This is life in #Ukraine now — sirens, strikes, and resilience.

I spent the last week in #Ukraine (during #WorldRefugeeDay2025) where I saw the impacts of war & mass displacement firsthand. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. There are 123M forcibly displaced people across the globe, including over 47M children. We continue to stand with them.

The U.S.' recent announcement to terminate its $2.6B commitment to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance could result in 75M children not getting vaccinated, resulting in over 1M deaths. In our interconnected world, a disease is just a flight away. More on this at Project HOPE: projecthope.org/news-stories/t…

The decision to restructure how the U.S. delivers humanitarian assistance will have consequential impacts for years to come. Great piece from Project HOPE's Jed Meline and Marcia Wong in Devex on the need for the Department of State to maintain humanitarian capacity post-USAID.

Not unlike the U.S., the Dominican Republic has been cracking down on Haitian migrants. In April alone, authorities deported ~900 pregnant or breastfeeding women, often separating them from their newborns. This will surely lead to more death & suffering. moretoherstory.com/stories/as-hai…

The incredible lifesaving impact of U.S. global health and development funding over the past 2 decades is truly remarkable. Now, we have a responsibility to do what we can to avoid backsliding on the progress we've made globally.

What’s happening with food aid in #Gaza is abhorrent & unconscionable. Project HOPE is seeing a sharp rise in malnutrition among children & pregnant women. The traditional aid mechanism was working—it must be reinstated. Unhindered humanitarian access is urgent.

Yesterday marked 6 months since wildfires devastated #LosAngeles. Project HOPE is still there & is focused on addressing the immediate & long-term mental health needs of impacted communities, particularly children & frontline workers. Learn more here: projecthope.org/news-stories/s…

I was fortunate to visit #Ukraine recently. So much had changed since the beginning of the full-scale war, but what remained consistent was the heart & spirit of the Ukrainian people. I am so proud of this team & of what they've been able to accomplish together. Слава Україні! 🇺🇦

15 people killed waiting in line for our #Gaza health clinic - 10 children. Angry, horrified & heartbroken cannot properly communicate how we feel anymore. Deconfliction mechanisms fail again & again. A ceasefire cannot come soon enough.

Yesterday, Project HOPE's Dr. Mithqal spoke with CBS News about the airstrike on our health clinic in Deir al Balah in #Gaza which killed 15 civilians, including 10 children as they lined up for care.  This senseless violence must end now! Civilians should never be a target!

The deliberate targeting of an ambulance is a stark reminder of the risks frontline health workers face every day in #Ukraine. Attacks on ambulances are a grave violation of International Humanitarian Law, & endanger the lives of medical personnel and civilians!

Just 4 days after 10 children were killed outside Project HOPE's health clinic in #Gaza, 6 more children were killed while collecting water on Sunday. That's 16 children who died trying to access humanitarian aid in the span of days. Ceasefire now. cnn.com/2025/07/13/mid…

I urge U.S. Senators to reject the rescission package. Cutting pre-allocated funding for health & humanitarian aid does not serve American interests. This funding keeps Americans safer & healthier by reducing health threats & improving global stability projecthope.org/take-action/ho…

“If we’re serious about health equity, we need to create a sustainable infrastructure that supports the organizations that make it a reality...The health of millions depends on it." Great piece from Project HOPE & our partners at the NAFC via STAT

"Because of my low blood pressure I had to stop during a surgery on a girl who had been shot in the abdomen" - Health workers in #Gaza cannot treat patients because they are so malnourished. This cannot continue: theguardian.com/global-develop… via The Guardian

“Children tell their parents they want to go to heaven, because at least heaven has food.” We demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the opening of all land crossings and aid access to all of Gaza, and the restoration of a principled, UN-led humanitarian response. #Gaza

Rabih Torbay (@rtorbay) 's Twitter Profile Photo

#Famine: Our worst nightmare, one we've warned about for months, is here. Project HOPE's #Gaza clinics are crowded with starving families, but food aid will come too late for those who are too malnourished, including children who will suffer lifelong health complications.

Every day, Ukrainian emergency health workers risk their lives to save others. Earlier this month, an ambulance Project HOPE supports was targeted. This has become a pattern - ~200 ambulances have been damaged or destroyed by Russian shelling attacks since 2022. #Ukraine

“We are hearing a lot of news that more aid will come, but...the situation on the ground has not changed since Sunday. The food supply has not reached the target population.” A powerful piece from The Guardian's Will Christou ft. Project HOPE in #Gaza: theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…
