Brexit had blown a black hole in the public finances that the Conservatives and Reform won’t apologise for. Will the Prime Minister fix it, or just keep complaining? Ed Davey

Such a powerful interview with the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk on the risk of a permanent forever war in Ukraine, unless the world steps up. Ukraine is prepared to keep fighting for another two or three years, but no country should have to face a decade of war. As Tusk

The fundamental problem: 58% of voters want public spending maintained or increased. 67% want taxes to stay at their current level or be cut. In reality, it’s a binary choice. Taxes go up, or spending is cut. That’s it.

It’s crucial our European allies set fear aside. Ukrainians are doing the hardest work – stopping russia from spilling over into their territories. Now leaders must use the tools at hand: frozen russian assets must be deployed to end this war.

Last night Ukraine attacked Russian targets (including Moscow) with hundreds of drones and Russian authorities downplayed the event. Three years ago we were told if Ukraine attacked Crimea, Russia would go nuclear. It summarizes the continuing US failure to understand this war.

russian human safari continues in Kherson. Today, firefighters putting out a fire after a strike were targeted by a russian FPV drone. The operator could clearly see who they were aiming at. This isn’t war — it’s terror.

Agree with Phillips P. OBrien All that wasted time in the early part of the war where the US and others bowed to Russia’s narrative on escalation. We are still not doing enough especially to make up for the yawning gap in US support. open.substack.com/pub/phillipspo…

Timothy Snyder: Putin’s idea is that in 862 Russia came into being and there was no Ukraine then. So there’s no Ukraine now. Zelenskyy represents a people who don’t want to give up themselves, their land, or sovereignty. Trump treats it like a real-estate deal. But it’s not. 1/
