When I started teaching, there were no emails. We all managed to teach, lead, keep everyone safe & function without weekends or holidays full of ‘essential’ communication that just had to be sent at the weekend. Just because we now can, doesn’t mean we should.

There are lots of children who like silence and order and routine and predictability. The voice of these children is often drowned out, so you might not hear them, but they are absolutely there. They just want to feel safe at school every day in an environment where they can get

There’s a load of children out there who can do something they couldn’t do last weekend, or know something they didn’t know last weekend…all because of you! How amazing is that?!

Why is the right environment essential for neurodivergent people? Because, the wrong environment will ultimately lead to two outcomes: - Masking your true authentic self - or - Meltdown or shutdown because being your self leads to you being judged, punished or invalidated.

My heart is still full from our event. When it feels like the world is against you know that there are more of us who want to make the world BETTER, SAFER and HAPPIER for our trans & NB colleagues, students, friends. I pledge to never stop speaking up. #TRANSPEOPLEARELOVED

I was asked to become an Ofsted Inspector a number of years ago. It just didn't feel right. Things have worsened since then. I don't understand how a school leader would prefer to be inspecting another school rather than being with the students and staff team they lead?
