Spring training was every bit as hard for John Wright, the "other" African American that went to Daytona Beach to train with the Montreal Royals in 1946, as it was for Jackie Robinson. Happy to see Mr. Wright getting some well-deserved love from the Daytona Tortugas

Please take a moment to remember legendary Montreal Royals and Dodgers pitcher Don Newcombe who would've turned 96 today. He passed away in 2019. FUN FACT: In 1955 with the Dodgers, he went 20-5 as a pitcher, while batting .359 with seven HRs at the plate.

More pics from the 1940 catholic school sports festival, held at De Lorimier stadium. Anyone notices a big difference between the pictures, taken a few days apart? The first person to spot it wins everyone's admiration!

She has lived a life unlike any other. Let us wish a very happy 100th birthday to key to the city of Montreal recipient Rachel Robinson, who was born Rachel Isum on July 19th, 1922. BTW, the key to the city was given during a football game at the Autostade in 1966. 📸La Presse.

Exactly one week after she turned 100, Rachel Robinson — with help from son David — cut the ribbon during the ceremonial opening of her late husband’s museum in Manhattan. The Jackie Robinson Museum is finally open.

"Do you have a 'Castro'? Montrealers wearing a beard will be admitted for free to the Royals-Havana game on May 6th at the Stadium". It was desperation time in 1960 as the Royals were dying a slow death. So free tickets to folks who wear "Castros"?, I say why not.

The archives of the city of Montreal have found pictures of the Royals' stadium that are new to me: The late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip visiting Delorimier in 1959.
