In New York Times Opinion

“We end up undermining romantic relationships by expecting too much,” writes the author Rhaina Cohen in a guest essay. “Just as in finance, in our social life, it’s wise to diversify our portfolio.” nyti.ms/49xpn3f

'When fans demand all women always speak highly of the most obvious female icons, they harden a narrow, and perhaps regressive, definition of what it means to be a woman,' writes Rose Adams on 'Barbie' and Taylor Swift.

I wrote about Barbie and Taylor Swift, and the girlypop culture that insists women praise them to prove their feminist bona fides. nytimes.com/live/2024/01/2…

I wrote a essay about the grim way being a mom in America is depicted today, and how women weighing parenthood struggle to absorb all these chilling warnings, statistics, and cautionary tales.

It’s an essay about dread, but also hope and maybe change.

Paralyzed by an Israeli sniper that shot him in the neck at age 15, Attiyah Nabaheen sued for civil remedies in Israeli courts. Last month, an Israeli airstrike killed him and his entire family. His lawyer, Rabea Eghbariah, writes: nytimes.com/2023/11/03/opi…

Read Parker Richards's great Opinion essay on the importance of whimsy! 'Inefficiency is generative; inefficiency is where we source our ideas, our inspirations.' nytimes.com/2023/10/05/opi…

On the picket lines of the twin union strikes in Hollywood, a defiant spirit—and a winky humor—prevails. But, beneath the pep, other emotions are roiling: dread, restlessness, economic panic. The standstill could take months to resolve. nyer.cm/ncXH855

I wrote about a forgotten Arthur Miller screenplay that will make its full US debut tonight, 73 years late.

The story is based on Pete Panto, a dockworker who was killed after standing up to union corruption in Red Hook, where the premiere takes place.

Today we were ready to work for as long as it took to reach a fair deal, but management walked away from the table with five hours to go. It’s official: NYTimesGuild members are walking out for 24 hours on Thursday. We know what we’re worth.

The New York State Sheep and Wool Festival started in 1980 as a livestock auction and market. Last weekend, it drew more than 23,000 people, including a newer contingent: young people dressed in bold knitwear, many of whom made their clothes themselves. nyti.ms/3skAVmY

I had so much fun writing for NYT Styles 💖 about the youth fashion at my favorite event of the year, the Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, N.Y.

The festival's young new audience reflects the increasing popularity of knitting among young people. nytimes.com/2022/10/22/sty…

Just amazing.

One of the largest nonprofit hospitals in the US is required *by law* to give poor patients free care.

Instead, with the help of McKinsey, it has made a Wall St style business out of squeezing the poorest patients for all they’re worth. nytimes.com/2022/09/24/bus…
