I had the pleasure of Unity Academy's KS4 #DukeofEdinburgh group yesterday. They prepared, lit and maintained their own mini fires. They even managed to toast a marshmallow! Excellent resilience and skills shown by the group 💚 #thisisap

This week Unity Academy #forestschool have learnt about (queen) bees and made crowns for the #Jubilee #queen

They were amazing and loved applying skills they have learnt at #forestschool 💚 we have so many ideas to bring back from Jamie's Farm to help enrich our forest school experience 🌱

A very busy but relaxed day Unity Academy today. AP3 cared for their vegetables, challenged each other on the slack line, made elderflower cordial and chopped lots of firewood. #forestschool #thisisap

We also had the pleasure of Unity Academy AP4 today where they learned a little about foraging, cooked elderflower pancakes on the fire and made foraged teas. #DukeofEdinburgh #forestschool #thisisap #ASD

This week has been all about foraging and food prep. Everyone is loving the current glut of raspberries and it has been wonderful watching them discover the new fruits as well as sharing with each other. #forestschool

So today the students made bread and we cooked it over the fire before smothering it in garlic butter! 15 minutes of wonderful calm and concentration whilst they cooked it to perfection! Delicious 💚

Just like that Unity Academy KS3 students have come to the end of their #forestschool journey as they move up into KS4. Ending on a team game of capture the flag. Planning, rule making, resilience and laughter.. a far cry from where they were in Sept #proud #thisisap

Great start with the new Unity Academy students doing forest school this week, getting stuck in with fire making, whittling and making herbal teas 🍃

So wonderful to be back at forest school with Unity Academy after 2 bank holidays. Today the students really bloomed, showing teamwork, confidence and lots of resilience.

We had a mix of things on the go last night utilising all of the chicken thighs. They made a broth which they used in the bounty curry instead of a stock cube (and drank the rest!) Crispy chicken skin snacks and homemade flat breads with no input from me! #proud Unity Academy

Super hot day on Monday Unity Academy forest school but they still made a fire and sat quietly around for 30 minutes for their bread to cook! So many skills put into this from the fire, to preparing sticks, making dough and cooking it! Delicious with Nutella.
