Whatever your budget is for whatever it is, add 20-30%. That will cover taxes, fees, shipping, unexpected costs, etc. This applies to traveling, remodeling, shopping, house buying all that. Everything has tax so if your max budget $2500 it’s really $2000-2200.

And there’s not a living room in the world that you can furnish for less than $2500 unless you’re buying cheap shit. So if you don’t have 10 racks or more take your ass to Ross and target and the furniture stores with the paint on the windows and call it a day.

As a designer my job is not to save you money, it’s to spend your money wisely. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Also, stop getting upset when. Your ikea dresser wobbles after 6 months. It cost you $60. You get what you pay for. 🤷🏾‍♀️

And “affordable products” are relative to the buyer. If you make 150k+ a year, a $200 dining chair would be affordable. But if you make 50k a year it may not be. I don’t know anything that is “well made” that is also cheap.
