The United States Capitol is under attack and it was ordered by the president of the United States.

When the Capitol is cleared and secured, and the joint session of Congress and the electoral vote count is completed, the House and the Senate should proceed immediately to the impeachment and removal of Donald J. Trump.

I call on President Trump to go on national television now to fulfill his oath and defend the Constitution by demanding an end to this siege.

Today, domestic terrorists attacked a foundation of our democracy: the peaceful transfer of power following free elections. We must reestablish the rule of law and hold them accountable. Democracy is fragile. Our leaders must live up to their responsibility to protect it.

This was sedition. This was an insurrection. But these acts of domestic terrorism, incited by Donald and 147 elected republicans, were fueled by white supremacy enabled by the corrosive toxicity of white privilege. It's in our bones and we fail to grapple with that at our peril.
