Video AI tools will likely be able to generate fake dashcam or home security camera footage with the typical frame rates, lens angles and artifacts those would have. Are there legitimate use cases for generating such videos?

Wow.

The Visa/MC merchant settlement announced last month will be challenged … by er merchants (specifically the largest ones)

Pretty stunning that the NRF (major merchant advocacy group) was only informed of the settlement after the fact. Perhaps they didn’t want to engage

The Texas Department of Insurance emailed me *the next day* to let me know that they sent my complaint to the insurance company, who now has 25 days to respond. When this is resolved, I'm going to write it all up. The basis of this is actually about privacy. More on this later.

Deepfake audio isn’t just for election interference and fake ransom threats.

The faked audio triggered an investigation after it was posted to a popular Instagram account, by the way.

“In sum, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the two biggest DSPs have the best anti-fraud solutions in place (Trade Desk through its partnership with Human, Google through its acquisition of Spider.io and ongoing development). Or that Trade Desk is taking share

Great insights from a fellow former FBer/Googler. Mat Harris makes some excellent points! They'll eventually figure it out, but likely lots more pain before that happens.
