More NYPD arrests last night at City College than Columbia.

No network cameras at City College.

1st NYPD campus protest arrests weren't at Columbia in 1968 but at City College in 1949.

One is an Ivy League college & other is a public college serving mostly local students.

I did some reading on the 1968 protests at Columbia to better understand the parallels to what’s happening today. It turns out there aren’t a lot. 1/

These protests feel wrong because the students are disrupting everyone’s education in the short term but show no willingness to disrupt their own educations in the long term. They’ll to fuck up finals week for their principles, but not quit Columbia for their principles. 10/
