Sad but special day, as we gather to remember Mark Smart. He created wonderful habitat for breeding #waders wherever he went. wadertales.wordpress.com/2019/06/14/man… #shorebirds #ornithology

Great to be a part of this exciting project. We’re trying to understand how thermal drone flights can be optimised to reduce false -ive’s and +ive’s when searching for wader nests. Thanks to all involved in the local team for making this happen. Video linked below 👇

Delighted to see our new RSPB Science paper out. In a declining upland population #Whinchat are more likely to persist further from enclosed farmland in mid altitude valleys that contain a v low density of trees & a mixed bracken & ericaceous field layer doi.org/10.1080/000636…

Do you have knowledge or expertise in taxonomic groups found in the UK’s uplands? I’m looking for naturalists to contribute to autecological analysis as part of a #biodiversity audit assessing impacts of land-use change across eight of northern England’s protected landscapes 1/4

Cultivated margins are one of the most diverse farm habitats & pay well in SFI, but are hard to get right So why not listen to John Secker on our webinar, farmer in the Brecks who we'd wager has the best cultivated margins in the country Register shorturl.at/ZAxJ0
