Decem-beer 15th: Kungaroo from Boshkung Brewing Co.. An excellent English IPA that is both hoppy and malty at the same time, but very well balanced.
Decem-beer 16th: Another Hazy Beer. (No seriously, that’s the name of it). KensingtonBrewingCo might call it “super hazy, super juicy with intense hop aromas” but I actually liked it for how balanced and moderate it seemed. A nice beer that succeeds by not going overboard.
Decem-beer 17th: Stonehooker Brewing’s Jack the RIPA. After 17 days I’m running out of unique ways to describe a great beer. (Hey Google, what’s a synonym for delicious?) Another awesome beer with malt forward flavours and a hint of rye nicely balanced by the right amount of hops.
Decem-beer 18th: Wicked Humans from Sawdust City Brewing Co. in collab with Town Brewery. The Vista hops are clearly the star in this fantastic West Coast IPA without being overpowering. Like the beer version of an acoustic performance - impressive in its subtlety without being loud.
Decem-beer 19th: Blonde Ale from Prince Eddy's Brewing Co.. Crisp, clean and easy without being boring. Crushable - should only be purchased in multiples of 6.
Decem-beer 20th: Wizard Wolf from Bellwoods Brewery, while still big in citrusy hop flavour is somewhat more subtle than one might expect from the orange juice like appearance. Not quite as refined as the excellent Jutsu, but a great sidekick.
Decem-beer 21st: Blairhampton Triangle from Boshkung Brewing Co. . A hoppy and slightly malty NEIPA with nice balance and only subtle bitterness.
Decem-beer 22nd: Not So Hazy from KensingtonBrewingCo. A slightly sweet and very mellow West Coast IPA. The last beer on the calendar from Kensington, which has been a very pleasant surprise.
Decem-beer 23rd: the penultimate day of the advent calendar is Victoria from Stonehooker Brewing - a deliciously malty English Pale Ale. A highlight of the month!
Decem-beer 24th: Viva La Stout by Sawdust City Brewing Co.. A fitting finale to the month & a great Christmas Eve pick. I taste every element of the cookie that inspires this beer: chocolate, raspberry, marshmallow & cookie. As one friend said “This is like dessert in a glass.”
So much fun working with Howie and Jim from the Colts to put this game together, and with Shannon Murree (Shannon Murree - More Than Real Estate) as our presenting sponsor. A lot of happy hockey fans got to see women’s hockey at the highest level today!
