Glorious Spring weather in #cadizprovince near Conil. Flocks of Stone Curlew, Audouin’s Gull and Caspian Tern at the mouth of the Rio Salado and Dartford Warbler on heath covered cliff tops at Roche.

Lovely spring day TCVStaveHill. Chiffchaff and Blackcap in full song, Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming and beautiful Peacock Butterly fluttering amongst the Blackthorn blossom.

Another lovely walk in TCVStaveHill #rotherhithe. Cowslip and Snake’s Head Fritillary in bloom, many Specked Wood Butterfly enjoying the sunshine and migrating Swallows passing overhead #londonbirds

One of the joys in travelling through Extremadura in the spring is watching Lesser Kestrel display in the early evening sun. This colony on the church in the centre of the lovely Garrovillas de Alconetar

On the pseudo steppes around #Conil #Cadizprovince. Stone Curlew, Montagu’s Harrier, many Calandra Lark and Skylark, distant Little Bustards, Collared Pratincole , 4 passing Golden Oriole, and surprise drop in Roller. Such a great habitat.

At Valcargado #cadizprovince. The light levante has brought in early migrating #honeybuzzard, many Booted and Short-toed Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Black Kite and the odd Black Stork. Its a great migration corridor.

Lovely day on the marismas of #Trebujena #Cadizprovince . Slender-billed Gull, Night Heron, Marbled Duck and a beautiful group of Bee-eater.

#littlebustard have been in sharp decline in Spain so good to see this male on the excellent Camino Benitos del Lomo near #Conil #Cadizprovince.

And just down the road fantastic views of White-rumped Swift that had just returned from Africa. Great to see them in #Cadiz province, and unlike the Little Bustard they seem to be increasing in number.

El Canillo #cadizprovince is a marvellous place. A large colony of Collared Pratincole, Stone Curlew breeding on the islands, Western Yellow Wagtail amongst the spring flowers and many waders in breeding plumage.

Particularly pleased with this lovely view at El Canillo of an adult Stone Curlew leading young to the safety of the long grass.

Valcargado # Cadizprovince is a wonderful place for eagles. Today in a light poniente breeze. Bonelli’s Eagle, Golden Eagle, Booted Eagle and more distant Spanish and Short-toed Eagle.

In the vineyards on the Cordel de Fontanar above #Chiclana #Cadizprovince a Rufous Bush Chat in fine voice and looking very rufous in the May sunshine.

Great to be amongst the local #Bluethroat L.s. azuricollis on their breeding grounds high on the broom covered mountain slopes of La Covatilla. 4 males showing well and surprisingly easy to see from the car park.

Reed Warbler singing loudly today in the Albion Channel #Rotherhithe. Probably breeding and seemingly happy to be so close to the busy footpaths on either side of the channel. Great urban wildlife.

On #DunwichHeath, from a respectful distance, watching #DartfordWarbler in pine tree taking food to its nest. Looks like the caterpillar of the Pine Hawk Moth.

Earlier this week #RSPBMinsmere. #PurpleHeron providing great views to appreciative visitors in the Island Mere hide and a pair of Hobby hawking very low over the woods behind.

Sand Martin bringing food to their young in the pipes in the Thames wall near the Old Salt Quay #Rotherhithe. A great example of adaptation of wildlife to the urban environment.

Great views of a pair of Reed Warbler taking food to their nest in the Albion Channel #Rotherhithe. They popped out of the reeds onto the busy footpath to catch flies attracted by fox poo. Fascinating urban wildlife watching. #londonbirds

At about midday in #Cadizprovince hundreds of White Stork and Black Kite rose from the local woods and marshes, came low overhead on the warm levante before rising on the thermals and drifting south to the Estrecho and Africa.
