Love Stories on the Move at #sundance2022 packs a lot of emotion and character insight for a short film, mostly in the expressive face of its lead actress as a cab driver who listens to her riders and whose partner can not hear her. bit.ly/SunDLoveStories

"Listen to the Beat of Our Images" by Audrey & Maxime Jean-Baptiste creates a state of suspended alienation as it reflects on the impact of the Guiana Space Center in the Kourou region of French Guiana. A unique essay film. Short Films #sundance2022 bit.ly/SundListenBeat

"Kicking The Clouds" by Sky Hopnika uses an archival family audio tape and his mother's memories interweaved with poetic film impressions of Western Washington in this #Sundance2022 short. A quarter hour that still lingers on well after screening. #Sundance2022

In the 59 #sundance2022 shorts, I detect these meme patterns -- Pubescent women in white dresses with mystical knowledge. "Elaine and Benjamin" closing shots as protagonists ponder their future. Gratuitous alien CGI "horror" effects. Lots of grief over dead or dying parents.
