I spoke about a Community Power Act and the We're Right Here: the campaign for community power campaign, our work in Liverpool with K I N D R E D and the opportunity to make business support work for the social economy, now WYCA is taking on LEP functions.

A Community Power Act would:

✅ Legitimise & encourage action taken by local communities

✅ Commit the Govt to transferring substantive decision-making powers to the neighbourhood level

✅ Address power imbalances within our system of government

It's for the next government to decide what money is made available to communities, and where those communities are. But this piece offers some options to ensure that when powers are passed to the community level they are accompanied by appropriate resources.
