Some estimate that—every day—174,000 people held hostage to sin are released through the power of the Gospel! Jesus: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me .. He has sent me to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives ..To set free those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18)

Youth Leader 1: “To get attendance up, I need new ways to entertain these students.” Youth Leader 2: “To build this group, I need new ways to give them challenges and to give them substantial places of service.” “.. service motivated by love and hope in Jesus” (1 Thess 1:3)

Have you done a full talk on Judgement Day? I.e., the miracle of grace contrasted with the blast furnace of God’s wrath? “Because of your .. impenitent heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed” (Romans 2:5).

A youth leader writes a college freshman after hearing that student is standing strong for Jesus: “[Someone] has brought us good news of your [steadfast] faith, and that you treasure your memories of us. We have been comforted because of your faith” (1 Thess 3:6-7).

“We have all of God that we want.” Be honest. Do you actually long to know God more intimately? If your children absorb that same degree of longing, is that OK? “Blessed by God are those .. who [consistently] seek Him and long for Him with all their heart” (Ps 119:2).

Last January, it was a joy to lead DNow at Northcrest Baptist in Meridian, MS. By the Spirit, students joyfully embraced the theme—“Reign: Awakening a Young Generation to King Jesus.” The pastors want me to proclaim that same message to the entire church—tomorrow. Pray!

Tues, I’m to speak to seminary and college students @swbts on the subject of prayer. There’s only one reason organizers would invite me. They probably assume that—since I’ve been head-over-heels in love with a true prayer warrior for 53 years—some of that would rub off.

Before teaching or preaching on Sunday … “Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Ps 51:2, 10). Before we can lead others, we run to the cross.

The fastest growing religion in America is Moral Therapeutic Deism. Primary Doctrine: “My faith is all about me. Sweet little Jesus simply exists to make me and mine more prosperous and happy.” What is the glaring deficit of such a religion? No King!

The Second Coming “that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first [the abandonment of the faith by professed Christians], and the man of lawlessness is revealed” (2 Thess 2:3 AMP). “Abandonment of the faith by professed Christians” = Our epidemic of deconstruction?

—What got the most powerful angel toss out of heaven? Self —What got Adam/Eve tossed out of the garden? Self —Which of our prayers makes Jesus roll his eyes? Self (“Make things all good for ME.”) Those growing deep in Christ pray: “YOUR kingdom come. YOUR will be done!”

"The purpose of all prayer is to find God's will and make that will our prayer." Catherine Marshall "Prayer is not an argument with God to persuade Him to move things our way, but an exercise by which we are enabled, by His Spirit, to move ourselves His way." Leonard Ravenhill

I have more in common with a 10-year-old living in a third-world slum —who adores and follows King Jesus —than with someone spiritually lost next door. (Ps 119:63). I desire compassion for the lost. And warm, supernatural bonds with all who belong to Jesus.

The strongest recommendation I can give to a book is to announce that it will be a text for my seminary class. That's the case for "Teenagers and Mental Health" by Monica Kim and Danny Kwon. Biblically and clinically solid. Thumbs up! a.co/d/dSURkzf

When you go through a difficult time—are you spiritually mature enough to sincerely pray: “Mighty King, this is so hard. But I am grateful for the way this season is taking me deeper in you.” “It was good for me to be afflicted  so I could learn your statutes” (Ps 119:71).

Yesterday our church gathered to prepare for a new senior pastor. Tangible joy. Laughter. Even the Boomer men were giving hugs. Just multiply that exuberance times a million. Can you even imagine the jubilation when Christ returns for us? The King IS coming! Hallelujah!

Kevin DeYoung: “Our sins are normally revealed in weeks, months, or sometimes years, sometimes after death (to the shame of followers, family, and friends), and always before the judgment seat of Christ … … The lie will not last forever.”

Dismantling a nursery ready for twins—the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I would have descended into a dark place, were it not for the faithfulness of my Beloved and his Word. “If your law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my time of trouble” (Ps 119:92).
